Maintaining a healthy and congenial natural environment is essential for human survival and well-being. However, it is deeply alarming that our environment is rapidly deteriorating due to human-induced activities. In this era of industrialization, thousands of factories are being established, and the harmful emissions released from them are polluting the air, water, and soil in numerous ways. As a result, the world is gradually becoming increasingly unsafe for humankind. At the same time, millions of trees are being cut down every day to meet human demands, pushing the planet toward a critical and potentially irreversible crisis. Bangladesh, with a population of over 160 million people, is among the countries most vulnerable to the adverse impacts of climate change. Recognizing this urgent reality, ECDO has been implementing a range of initiatives at the local level to protect the environment and reduce the impacts of climate change.

ECDO’s environmental interventions include organizing discussion meetings and seminars on disaster risk reduction, distributing informational leaflets on the effects of climate change, conducting tree plantation campaigns, providing nursery management training, encouraging community members to plant trees, and distributing tree saplings. In alignment with the achievement of Goal 13 (Climate Action) and Goal 15 (Life on Land) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, ECDO is also working to raise awareness among future generations about the causes and consequences of global warming. Furthermore, the organization promotes the sustainable management of ecosystems and biodiversity by advocating for actions to combat desertification and land degradation, ensuring a safer and more sustainable future for all.
