ECDO is an organization of indigenous people working for the establishment of Human Rights for marginalized communities in the society of Sylhet region, northeastern part of Bangladesh. ECDO has been implementing this challenging job along with civil society members, lawyers, academicians, journalists, elected public representatives, law and order enforcement authorities and students. In particular, ECDO has been working on women and child rights, Right to information (RTI), land rights etc. To continue such right based activities, ECDO arranges different types of training on Human Rights, publication of IEC materials like; posters, leaflet, flyers, arranging spot visit, press conferences, Human chain, legal aid support, developing fact finding report of the victims etc. for ensuring justice of the victim/s.Overall, ECDO is working to establish good governance and social harmony in the society. Moreover, ECDO encourages journalists to cover human rights issues and to make the mass people aware about their rights in the context of National and international law. Through implementing these activities, ECDO’s aim is achieve the targets of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), through ending poverty and hunger (Goal 1 and 2), ensuring gender equality through protecting women and child rights (Goal 5), combating all forms of inequality among people (Goal 10) and build peaceful, just and inclusive society for all (Goal 16).
