Maintaining both physical and mental health is essential for everyday well-being. Bangladesh has committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to health ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages. In line with this commitment, ECDO implements a range of health-focused initiatives, including free medical camps in remote areas, training programs for indigenous women on Traditional Birth Attendance (TBA), and awareness campaigns on HIV/AIDS and other critical health issues.
Recognizing that reproductive health is fundamental to women’s overall well-being, ECDO works to promote safe delivery practices that help reduce mortality rates among both mothers and newborns. The organization also supports rural and disadvantaged elderly people and children by providing education on basic hygiene and sanitation practices.
To improve accessibility of health information, ECDO produces IEC materials such as posters and leaflets in various indigenous languages, ensuring that communities can easily understand essential health messages. Looking ahead, ECDO plans to establish a Health Care Centre (HCC) in remote areas of the Sylhet Region to serve poor and disadvantaged women, children, and elderly populations.
In addition, ECDO promotes the sustainable management of safe water, adequate sanitation, and hygiene education among underserved communities, contributing to broader efforts toward improved public health and well-being.
