Providing Education and Health Protection Materials to the Marginalized Children
Ethnic Community Development Organization (ECDO) has distributed education materials and health protection materials to the students of Nirrnala Primay School and Kalagool Primary School under Khadimnagar tea estate. Total one hundred and ten (110) tea labor children studying in class three, four and five has received notebooks, pens and pencils. Although the tea garden workers are more marginalized of the marginalized population, at the time pandemic situation of COVID-19, they lived inhumane lives even from this marginalized state. It was very tough for them to manage their living expenses, so bearing their children’s educational expenses were beyond their capability.
As the school reopened on 12th September after being closed for 543 days, children of tea laborer are in need of education materials. Moreover, it is also necessary to maintain proper health guideline to protect from covid-19. Along with maintaining physical distances, wearing face masks and washing hand with soap and water for at least 20 seconds is very effective tool to prevent Covid-19 and other diseases. Concerning student’s health, ECDO provided Water container and soaps in these two schools so that children can wash their hands before entering into the classroom. It should be mentioned that ECDO distributed such education and health protection materials with the support of HEI VERDEN, a Norwegian Development Agency.
Nantu Ranjon, Headmaster of Nirmala Primary School, Ataur Rahman Shamim, Member, 9 no. ward of khadimnagar Union, Mr. Jashim, Assistant teacher of Kalagool primary School and guardians of the students were present at that program. They thanked HEI VERDEN through ECDO for supplying both education materials and health protection tools to their students.
