Leadership Development of Tea Garden Women Workers on Their Rights Project

ECDO started its Leadership Development of Tea Garden Women Workers on Their Rights (LDTGWW) project a 12-month initiative started from July 2024 and will be ended by June 2025 funded by European Union (EU) and Oxfam, aimed at empowering women tea workers in the Doldoli, Kewachera, and Hiluachera tea garden located in Sylhet Sadar Upazila under Sylhet district.The project directly benefits 5,130 women tea workers, with an additional 15,390 individuals indirectly impacted through the ripple effect in the community.

The primary objectives are to sensitize women tea-worker about their legal rights, including labor laws, wages, and decent workplace and to develop their leadership skills. Primary Activities include workshops, leadership training and advocacy, designed to build confidence, and empower women to advocate for their rights. By the end of the project, the goal is to have a strong network of women leaders capable of driving positive change within their communities. The project also works to strengthen relationships with local stakeholders and ensure the sustainability of these efforts through ongoing networks and advocacy initiatives.
