Global Fund For Children(GFC) representatives visited ECDO

On May 4th and 5th, representatives from the Global Fund for Children (GFC) undertook a visit to Ethnic Community Development Organization (ECDO). The GFC delegation comprised Ms. Indrani Chakraborty, Regional Co-Director for South Asia, and Mr. MD Shahnawaz, Program Specialist for Bangladesh. Their itinerary encompassed a thorough exploration of the project sites, including the Doldoli tea garden community and the Patro community, where they engaged in a series of meetings and interactions with community members. These deliberations provided invaluable insights into the lifestyle, challenges, and aspirations of the communities. Throughout the meetings, participants actively shared their perspectives on community development, articulating the issues they confront. Ms. Indrani Chakraborty and Mr. Md. Shahnawaz skillfully facilitated discussions on self-dependency and the vital significance of enabling communities to effectively tackle their own challenges. During the second day of the visit to the ECDO office, staff members started off with a comprehensive overview of the organization and its activities during a presentation session. Following this, a workshop on safeguarding was conducted by Ms.Indrani Chakraborty, in which ECDO staff participated actively. The aim of the safeguarding session was to raise consciousness about safeguarding issues while providing staff with the knowledge and skills needed to protect the community’s most vulnerable individuals. Through interactive discussions and practical exercises, participants gained valuable insights into detecting and mitigating safeguarding risks effectively. The visit by GFC representatives to ECDO provided a great opportunity for ECDO to learn new ideas. The discussions and sharing of experiences emphasized how important community empowerment and safeguarding are for achieving sustainable development goals. It is noteworthy that ECDO has embarked on a new community-led initiative with the collaboration of GFC.
