Celebration of International Mother language Day

Ethnic Community Development Organization (ECDO) proudly celebrated International Mother Language Day on 21 February 2026 at Kamalganj,Moulvibazar with the active participation of students from ECDO’s Manipuri Language Center (MLC) under the Primary Level Education Support for Marginalized Children (PLESMC) project. Organizing a vibrant programme that highlighted the importance of linguistic heritage, cultural identity, and inclusive education for marginalized communities; students enthusiastically took part in creative competitions including poem recitation, drawing, and story writing, using their mother tongue as a medium of expression to demonstrate both artistic talent and a strong emotional connection to their language and culture. The event created a supportive learning environment that encouraged confidence, creativity, and respect for indigenous linguistic traditions. The programme was honored by the presence of Mr. Lakshmikanta Singh, Executive Director of ECDO, whose participation inspired students and reaffirmed the organization’s continued commitment to culturally responsive education and community empowerment, and the celebration brought together respected community members, educators, parents, and learners in a shared tribute to the richness of mother languages, strengthening collective awareness about the need to preserve linguistic diversity and reinforcing the vital role of education in safeguarding cultural heritage for future generations.
