EU Election Observation Mission Team Visit
Ethnic Community Development Organization (ECDO) hosted a delegation from European Union (EU) Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) Bangladesh at ECDO office. The visit created an important space for dialogue and exchange between ECDO and members of the international observer mission.
The EU delegation held a discussion with Mr. Lakshmikanta Singh, Executive Director of ECDO, along with his team. The observer team included Ms. Bambi Badibangova and Mr. Christian Keilbach, Long-Term Observers of EU EOM Bangladesh 2026. During the meeting, the observers listened to ECDO’s experiences, field-level insights, and community-based perspectives, with a particular focus on civic engagement and electoral awareness initiatives among indigenous and marginalized communities.
The discussion also covered ECDO’s ongoing development work, grassroots engagement, and the broader democratic and electoral context in Bangladesh. The visit highlighted the importance of inclusive community participation and the vital role of civil society organizations in supporting transparent and participatory electoral processes.
The EU Election Observation Mission Bangladesh 2026 is part of a comprehensive international effort to observe and assess the 13th National Parliamentary Elections, scheduled for 12 February 2026. The mission deploys long-term observers across Bangladesh to monitor electoral preparations and promote democratic standards in line with international principles.
ECDO reaffirmed its commitment to fostering open dialogue, civic participation, and sustainable development, and welcomed continued engagement with international partners working toward credible election observation and democratic strengthening.
